Our Story - a little bit about us

We, Matt and Kim moved into Ararimu back in 2015. We moved straight into renovating the old villa and trying to make a go of the land. With a new family and commitments back to full-time jobs it was a steep learning curve trying to balance life on a small block. Our family has continued to grow, and the challenges keep on coming.

Matt has a farming background, formally running a large dairy herd and then later a bull/beef fattening bush block on the Westcoast of the South Island. During this time he developed a love for the hay season. All supplements were grown and made on farm with our own gear. Matt finds it therapeutic and immensely satisfying cutting grass for either baleage or hay. Once you have the bug it’s hard to get rid of.

The difficulty of getting a contractor for lifestyle block hay hit home late 2015 when we wanted to do hay. It was then we discovered what service really meant and learnt what it was like to be put on the back burner. We have been there and that is exactly what lead us to to start Ararimu Baling.

Ararimu Baling is locally owned and operated. We service Ararimu, Ramarama, Hunua, Bombay and surrounding areas, specialising in lifestyle forage. We cut and bale hay, haylage and baleage into conventional or wrapped bales. Ararimu Baling can also take hay orders and fill them by sourcing and buying standing grass. If you require topping and tidying we can also help.
